I started the first couple chapters of Braving the Wilderness, by Brené Brown. This is our non-fiction book feature for the month of February at HMDillard Online Book Club. I started this book club almost a year ago because I want to get fellow reader’s inputs on books that I don’t normally read, and even new insights on books I have read.
In reading Brené Brown’s book, I love how honest she is. She doesn’t sugarcoat things, yet she comes from a very human side of trying to figure out life. From what I can tell in these first couple chapters, I’d better hang on tight. I have a feeling that I will be doing some soul searching before it is finished. I chose this book initially because I wanted a non-sappy option for the month of February. I am not dating anyone right now, and sometimes the month of February makes me unreasonably emotional. On another note, often times we are bombarded during this month with Valentine’s Day and feel the need to make everything perfect, specifically with the people that we love. I’m hoping this book encourages us to embrace our imperfectness and step out into the unknown, even if it’s messy.
If you have any comments or thoughts as you’re reading this book, don’t forget to write on our book topic in Goodreads. Can’t wait to hear what you think!
