This week I’m trying a couple different things on piano. Before you get any grand ideas of my playing abilities, I just play for myself. I enjoy keeping up the art, but don’t ever perform. After I finished practicing one day, I thought that I maybe rely on the music too much. Sometimes I get frustrated because I can’t quote get something right. Well, for at least this one week, I’ve decided to practice piano without music. I want to practice the little listening by ear or using chords that I know and jus have fun with it. I have given myself permission to use any notes that I write down. If I want to “rewrite” one of the songs that I play or a song that I hear, then I will let myself use that music.
I don’t know, it just sounds like a fun commitment. And who knows what I will learn?
In the meantime, enjoy this fun little video of “Waltz of the Flowers” by Tchaikovsky. It reminds me of a marble maze I used to love at a local Science Spectrum (a kid’s science museum).
